Work in the area includes trials and consultancy on matters related to all stages of the claims against an insurance policy, legal opinions about the spectrum of the covered risk, subrogation, analysis and structure of policy conditions.

The Firm is often consulted on the spectrum of the insurance and re-insurance market reserve that the law establishes in favor of authorized insurance and reinsurance companies in Uruguay; the Firm advices on the spectrum of lawful activities to be developed by foreign entities not installed in the country.

Some of the matters in which the Firm participated include:

• Legal assistance to a Spanish insurance company in the acquisition of the country’s first private insurance company.
• Representation of a foreign insurance company re-insured with the State Insurance Bank.
• Audit (due diligence) for the purchase of an insurance company with a long standing tradition in the country.
